Smells like Christmas...

I'm not a very skilled baker, but I do enjoy making simple cookies & cake recipes; my favourite simple recipes all seem to use golden syrup & a delicious mixture of spices.

I think my favourite part is getting to sniff cinnamon and cardamom...

Plans are afoot for some gingerbread cookies.

(The jar of ground paprika is in there because the colour is fantastic - I'm not planning on making some weird cookies.)

Still knitting....

The gift knitting goes on...

I've finished & delivered a couple of items already, including a Christmas Stocking for a recent arrival, with a little extra embellishment.

Patterns; Christmas Stockings by Leigh Radford.
Hearts by Anna Hrachovec.
Yarn; Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Worsted.

The stocking is large enough that I could easily tuck the child into it... I think there will have to be a photo-shoot soon!

And after a couple of weeks of a break it has started to snow heavily in Dublin today. I would love to be able to take a snow day & have some fun with it, but work is far too busy with pre-Christmas rush. To cheer me up, tomorrow is the Winter Solstice, and we can expect a lunar eclipse in the morning - I just hope the falling snow & grey clouds don't hide the sky.

Knitting up a storm...

We've been experiencing 'Snowmaggeddon' for the last few days; the snow seems to be over a foot deep when out walking. This has been aiding my ambitious plans for knitting gifts....

... in between building Snow Pig to keep Rupert & Mildred company!
