Before & after...

Last week I decided to get out the dyeing kit again in an attempt to make a one-off birthday gift for a friend. Some bluefaced leicester tops became...
Kermit green.

I like to think that my dyeing has improved since my first attempts a couple of years ago, when I gave little or no consideration of what the finished yarn would look like. This patchey green & red yarn was taunting me every time I searched the yarn stash, reminding me of poor choices. Until I realised I could fix it! While I had the dye pots out I over-dyed this mess...
with a lovely shade of rust.

I used Ashford dyes for wool, with vinegar in a stove-top saucepan. I intend to experiment soon with readily-available Dylon dyes, but more about that when I get to it!
